Letter from the University of Portland

Gus, I first wanted to congratulate you on having such a great team at the CASL final four tournament last weekend!
I also wanted to let you know that we are very interested in one of your players, Ashley Herndon.  I would love to hear your thoughts on her and where she is in the recruiting process for 2013.   Once she begins her recruiting process, we would love to have her come and visit!  She is a very good player and we would love to see her at the University of Portland in 2013!
Also, I was wondering if Cari Price was already committed or not for 2012?
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call: 360.430.7041.
Take care and again, it was great to watch your team play!

Letter from the University of Colorado

Coach Donolo,
Hope you are doing well, and I hope you and your team enjoyed your time in North Carolina.
I know that from the previous emails that we’ve swapped, you mentioned that a lot of your players had not considered the University of Colorado but would be interested in learning more about us.  We would, even more so now that we’ve seen you and your team play on multiple occasions, like the opportunity to tell them more about us and also get to know them as well.
But, before that, on top of Bunner, Pinkston, Herndon, and Kovar from our previous emails, I was very impressed with Autumn Berry and Cari Price.  I know Autumn’s a 2013 grad, but Cari is a 2012.  Has Cari committed anywhere?
With the Bunner, Herndon, and Kovar, as you know we cannot email or call them yet, but again we would love for them to call us and let us have the opportunity to chat with them about Colorado.  I have attached some flyers if you wouldn’t mind passing along to each of them to get an idea of what Boulder, Colorado, and the University of Colorado are like!
Thank you for your assistance and it was a pleasure to see your team play this past weekend!

Letter from Penn State University

Hi Gus, Autumn Berry impressed down in Raleigh this weekend as I watched your games. She seems to be very strong on both sides of the ball from her left side defender spot. She has a nice left foot, uses the ball well, and and defensively she seems to be physically mature with good recovery running speed.
She has actually completed our online player profile questionnaire so she obviously has highlighted Penn State as a school that she would like to consider. This past weekend was the 1st chance that we were able to see her play.
What can you tell me about Autumn and where she is at in the selection process?
Thanks Gus.

Letter from Wake Forest University

Gus: I wanted to touch base and make you aware of three players we liked from this past weekend.
#1 Allison Bunner, #15 Autumn Berry, #99 Vanessa Kovar
Please touch base at any time and pass along our interest to them. Also, let me know how you like to handle your part of their recruiting so we can do things that fit your protocol.
A fun team to watch, they play the game the right way (which these days is rare) and I’ll be there in Orlando to see you guys. Happy Holidays! Thanks!

Letter from the University of Minessotta

Coach Donolo:

My name is Jerrod Roh, and I am an assistant coach at the University Of Minnesota women’s soccer program. From my research, I have deduced that you are the coach of the U15 VSA Heat Blue girls squad heading to the PDA Showcase this weekend. If I am mistaken – I apologize and would ask that you forward this on to the coach of the team.

If you could please share who your top 2-3 players are on this team – name, jersey #, position, and grad year – then that would be great. We are especially focused on the 2012 class right now, so any with special qualities in that class would be good information for us to have prior to arriving in New Jersey.

Letter from the University of Colorado

Hey Coach Donolo,

I know we were swapping emails earlier in the fall, but I wanted to follow up with regards to those players we were discussing. We have confirmed and set our winter camp dates, and we would like to invite those players and any players that you might have that would be interested in the University of Colorado. It is a 2 day camp that we hope to make as cost-efficient as possible as the majority of players are coming from out of state. But, it is just one way for players and our staff to get to know your players better and also get an idea of what we are all about at CU.

The camp will begin Saturday afternoon and continue through Sunday afternoon. Since we are unable to do any recruiting activities, i.e. campus tour, etc…while camp is in session, we are looking to have any prospective student-athletes that are here Saturday morning join us for a tour prior to the start of camp. In that way, we can make the trip worth their while with a tour and having them sit and chat with us as well.More information can be found at Colorado Buffaloes (Buffs) Camps, but again we hope we can get to know your players a little more as again we really enjoyed watching them at PDA.

Thank you again for your time!

Letter from Old Dominion University Women's Soccer

Hi Gus,

My name is Stephanie Miller; I am the assistant coach at Old Dominion University. I wanted to touch base with you because I had the opportunity to watch your team play at the PDA tournament in New Jersey. I found your team to be very talented with many up and coming college prospects. With the team being so young and as they are all still growing and maturing, we would like to invite the team, or as many that would be interested to attend our elite residential camp July 10-14.

The girls would get to see our campus, stay in brand new dorms, and learn more about our soccer program. During that week they would work only with our head coach Joe Pereira, as well as our current players, incoming freshman and our 2011 class.

The girls would get the chance to learn the “ins” and the “outs” of our program from preseason fitness tests, to formations and terminology. They will be closely evaluated thorough out the week, as well as get a great feel for Old Dominion University, so that when it comes time for them to being the recruiting process, our soccer program could become a great fit for them.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,

Stephanie L. Miller, Old Dominion University, - Women's Soccer, Assistant Coach - 757-683-3403

Letter from Bryant University

Hi Gus,

Can you please tell me a little about your players Ashley Herndon and Caitlyn Whitford? They have both expressed interest in Bryant. Can you also please have them fill out our prospective questionnaire? The link is on the bottom of this email or they can fill it out on our website. Also please let me know what tournaments you are going to as I would love to watch them both play. Thank you!

University of Kentucky Women's Soccer

Hi Gus,

It was such pleasure to meet you this weekend and watch you team play. I really like how athletic you guys are and play with such intensity. We have always liked Vanessa but I was also so impressed with Ashley Herndon. She is fantastic. Allie Bruner was also one that I think can play at a high level. She reads the game well and is very athletic.

I thought that Ashley was the most dynamic player I saw this weekend. She has a great future. Please pass along our information to these girls and let them know of our interest. I look forward to seeing you again.

Letter from James Madison University (JMU)

Hi Gus,

I had a chance to watch your team play this afternoon at WAGS (we had 2 away games this weekend in Georgia and NC, so only could make today). I love this team!! We have had a bunch of the girls on campus already for various events...our spring clinic, summer camp and a few have come for tours and to see some of our games this fall. They really seem on the ball with the recruiting.

My staff and I are very excited to continue to watch this team play a lot over the next year...so please encourage them to continue to keep us posted with any upcoming events and we will make every effort to get out and watch them play.

Particularly like Cox, Bunner and Berry...they have already been down a number of times. Would love to have them become part of our program in the not too distant future. Good luck with your upcoming tournaments.

Lombardo, David (Dave) - JMU Coach
